Griffith is part of The United Methodist Church and located near downtown Las Vegas. Founded in 1955, Griffith is a diverse congregation of long-time Las Vegas residents, new immigrants, young and old alike, young families, singles, empty-nesters, different races, different nationalities, different lifestyles.
Our most fundamental beliefs are that God loves us and God's grace abounds for everyone. We believe in a triune God, the Trinity-- Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer-- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believed that we are saved through Jesus Christ, by faith, not works. But faith without works is dead, the Bible tells us, and so we believe that it is important for our discipleship that we share the love of Christ with others through works of mercy and justice. As disciples of Jesus Christ we are called to be the Body of Christ in the world, to seek justice, to free the oppressed, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to visit the sick, etc. The people of Griffith church respond to the needs of the world through food collections, clothing drives, "adopting" children at Christmas, praying for others, serving at food pantries, participating in mission trips, etc., and in all things, praying for guildance from God on where we are called to be in service to others. With God's guidance and the help of the Holy Spirit, we believe we can work toward the transformation of the world through making disciples of Jesus Christ.

The United Methodist Church recognizes two sacraments, baptism and holy communion.

Baptism, both infant/child and adult baptism, is the sacrament through which we are initiated into Christ's holy church. We are incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit, God's gift offered to us without price. Those who are baptized into the church make up the covenant community and accordingly, baptism is ordinarily conducted in public worship.

Holy Communion is the sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper when he commanded his followers to partake in the bread and the cup in remembrance of him. The United Methodist Church has an open table which means that all are welcome to take Communion. "Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another."
